Hip-Hop artist King Soloman's "Wish For This"

Where did the inspiration for this song come from?

"These days, Rap artists fine it very easy to get caught in the Main Stream. Over the years, Hip-Hop, Rap, and R&B have climbed to the top of the charts being the most popular music in the United States and across the globe with so many up-and-coming artists and rising talents. Each has their own individual story and personally I feel that as the success gets more abundant, our roots and what we stand for gets lost in translation. Wish For This should give you a glimpse into what it means to be an artist. Every day we deal with trials and tribulations such as personal life drama, business life decisions, social life encounters, and while all this is happening we are trying to find a medium in between. The chorus of the song represents what every rapper wants, whereas the verses indicate all the experiences that happen behind the scenes. It’s not easy to make something of yourself, and as an artist, the spotlight is always on you. That's why I had to make something that shows people, especially people who really listen to the lyrics, what it takes to shine bright. Combining that with the modern-day events that are going on, I hope that people could really understand that becoming a true artist takes a lot of time and effort. While succeeding with our music we also have to deal with all of the problems that come with it. Losing a loved one, dealing with cops, maintaining a relationship to your significant other, being manipulated by businessmen, and being betrayed are some of the hardships a rap artist deals with on a daily basis. And while all this is happening we still act like there are no problems. That’s why this song is a little bit ironic because the chorus talks about success and confident prosperity whereas the verse talks only about problems and negativity. When people listen to Wish For This, I want them to leave with an understanding of what it takes to be dedicated to your craft. Every day isn’t sunshine and the true talents are usually the ones who deal with pain the most and turn it into a passionate project or a song that is very relatable to everyone. Simply, everyone thinks that life as a rap artist is easy because we mostly gloat about fame, money, women, and things that are inaccessible to the normal individual. But the truth is, behind the curtain we are dealing with more problems than the eye can see. So think twice before you Wish For This lifestyle."
